Robert is diagnosed with ovarian cancer but his treatment is rejected by many doctors who fear stigmatization from the society which believes that gender transformation is unacceptable. Robert spends his last days with his "close familyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ , consisting of other transsexuals, and his love Lola, who is a transgender woman. His last appearance is at a S outhern Comfort Conference, where he addresses a large audience, and later dies after a great night at prom with Lola, his love.The importance of this movie is to remind people about Robert Eadsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s life. Although he was kind-hearted, as depicted by him forming the Southern Comfort movement, which was supposed to unite transsexuals and loved ones together, doctors were not kind to him. Eadsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s aim to have his outer appearance compared to his inner-being proves futile as people hardly look at his inner appearance and they hence judge him from his external manifestation. The doctorsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ act is seen as an act of prejudice and points a finger and the general stupidity of the society as a whole.
